Rate:
$19 POSITION SUMMARY The Patient Information Coordinator (PIC) provides essential administrative support to hospitalists, enabling clinicians to maximize time dedicated to patient care. While many PICs have medical backgrounds, this role is non-clinical and does not involve hands-on patient care. Programs with two or more PICs are required to maintain seven-day coverage, including weekends and holidays as needed. Typical working hours are 4:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with some location-based variations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide administrative support to multiple physicians Coordinate and appropriately distribute patient assignments among providers Prepare and distribute daily rounding lists by 7:00 a.m. Meet daily with assigned physicians to review patient updates and needs Accurately enter patient data for billing and documentation purposes Distribute finalized rounding lists to clinicians, nursing units, and relevant departments Conduct daily patient visits, including room-to-room rounding (required) Educate patients using Apogee materials explaining coordination with primary care providers (PCPs) Conduct bedside Patient Experience (PET) discussions prior to discharge (required) Assist with scheduling follow-up appointments with PCPs as needed Retrieve and manage documentation from electronic medical records (EMR) Verify insurance information and ensure documentation is transmitted to PCPs Serve as a liaison between hospitalists, hospital staff, and corporate offices Perform general administrative duties including scheduling, meeting coordination, and note-taking Extended Touch Services (Required): Conduct extended patient visits and complete related reporting (e.g., HCAHPS, physician detail reports) Provide constructive feedback to providers and collaborate on service improvements Participate in meetings, conference calls, and departmental communications Maintain timely and professional email communication (within 24-48 hours) Perform additional duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Experience in a healthcare support role (e.g., Medical Assistant, Unit Coordinator, ER Technician, or similar) Strong computer literacy, including data entry and document management (uploads, faxing, electronic submissions) Proficiency in medical terminology Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT coding (preferred) Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, and staff Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills High attention to detail and accuracy Excellent customer service skills with a positive, team-oriented attitude Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to walk throughout the facility and stand for extended periods (up to 50% of the workday) Frequent typing and documentation (approximately 75% of the workday) Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching Ability to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds occasionally Visual acuity for close work and ability to adjust focus Frequent use of hands and arms for reaching, handling, and documentation Ability to sit, communicate effectively, and hear clearly #IND1
