Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly organized Surgery Coordinator to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in medical administrative support, with a focus on surgical procedures and patient care coordination. As a Surgery Coordinator, you will serve as a vital link between patients, surgical teams, and administrative staff, ensuring seamless scheduling, documentation, and communication throughout the surgical process. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient outcomes while maintaining efficient clinic operations. Duties Coordinate surgical schedules by managing appointments, operating room bookings, and pre-operative preparations using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks. Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification procedures to facilitate smooth billing processes. Prepare and review detailed documentation including care plans, medical records, and surgical consents in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure all necessary pre-operative assessments and post-operative follow-ups are scheduled accurately. Maintain thorough knowledge of CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding standards, and medical billing procedures related to surgical services. Manage patient inquiries via multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette while providing exceptional patient service. Qualifications Proven experience in medical office management or clinical coordination within a surgical or outpatient setting. Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and Medicare guidelines for billing and documentation review. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Prior clinic experience involving medical scheduling, insurance verification, and patient intake procedures is highly desirable. Strong attention to detail in medical records management and documentation accuracy. Exceptional communication skills coupled with professional phone etiquette and customer service orientation.
