Job Summary We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Coordinator to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will manage the ordering, verification, and documentation of durable medical equipment for patients, ensuring seamless coordination between providers, insurance companies, and patients. Your expertise will help deliver high-quality patient care while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. Duties Coordinate the procurement and delivery of durable medical equipment, ensuring timely fulfillment of patient needs. Verify insurance coverage and benefits through managed care plans to facilitate smooth reimbursement processes. Maintain accurate medical records related to DME orders, including documentation of prescriptions and delivery confirmations. Communicate effectively with healthcare providers regarding prescriptions, CPT coding (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases), and medical terminology to ensure proper billing and compliance. Conduct insurance verification to confirm patient eligibility and coverage details before processing equipment requests. Ensure all activities comply with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality. Collaborate with medical office staff and insurance companies to resolve any billing or authorization issues promptly. Requirements Proven experience in managed care, medical office administration, or a related healthcare setting. Bilingual (Spanish is must) Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and medical coding including CPT, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems. Familiarity with insurance verification processes and working with managed care plans. Experience working in a medical office environment is preferred. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in handling medical documentation and records. Ability to navigate HIPAA regulations confidently while managing sensitive patient information. Office experience demonstrating proficiency with healthcare software systems and administrative tasks.
