Job Summary:
SUNY Upstate is search of an Assistant Director of the Advanced Practice Professional Development who will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of system-wide initiatives that support employee engagement, professional development, and clinical excellence. The Assistant Director will be responsible for compliance with
ANCC APPFA
accreditation standards for current and future Advanced Practice Fellowship Programs, support the Advanced Practice Transition to Practice, CME Educational Programs, and Preceptor Education and Development. This role will be a key member of the Advanced Practice Leadership (APL) Team and will have responsibility for quality, personnel management, professional practice, and accreditation activities.
Key Responsibilities and Expectations:
Develop, implement, and lead the department in quality improvement, research activities, and educational opportunities promoting clinical excellence Maintains collaborative relationships with interdisciplinary team members, including physician leaders, nurse leaders, and community partners. Facilitate the development of APP fellowship tracts through collaboration with Advanced Practice Leadership (APL), faculty, and members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure a streamlined, comprehensive, evidence-based practice-driven program. In collaboration with APS Leadership, assume responsibility for obtaining Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship Accreditation (APPFA), maintaining that accreditation, and pursuing additional APP fellowship tracks which could benefit our employees, patients, and the institution. Collaborate with numerous clinical team to identify educational opportunities and develop criteria of required and recommended training programs to ensure all APPs on each team maintain the same level of practice, roles and responsibilities, and accountability. Develop training programs for APPs who are required to obtain new invasive privileges, monitor progress, and ensure proper documentation. Support all APPs to navigate evidence-based research and publication opportunities. Present work and research conducted and achieved by Advanced Practice Providers at local and national conferences.
Minimum Qualifications:
NYS licensed/registered RN, NP or PA required. Master's Degree as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant & current National Certification consistent to the clinical practice. Minimum of five (5) years Clinical Practice experience is required. Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible leadership experience encompassing collaboration with members of medical staff, nursing, and quality management. Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and excellent knowledge of healthcare IT platforms, Excel, Office 365, and various Upstate platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctoral Degree in a Healthcare-related field, highly preferred. Advanced specialized training in Healthcare Leadership. Experience with leading research and quality projects. Demonstrated experience in developing educational programs, curriculum design, and leading new teams/programs.
