Job Description

As Clinical Specialist/Lead Pulmonary Function Technician, you will provide managerial and clinical leadership of your assigned team. You will also serve as a Registered Pulmonary Function Technician to support a diverse patient population, with many managing various chronic respiratory disorders, critical illnesses and related symptoms.   • A caregiver in this position works Monday - Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Provide clinical and managerial leadership to the Respiratory staff as designated by departmental management.
+ Monitor daily operations of assigned areas and act as a resource person for staff. + Assign therapist workload and adjust staffing based on patient volume. + Participate in continuous quality improvement. + Provide feedback on staff performance. + Assist with development and implementation of Respiratory Therapy Policy/Procedures/Protocols. + Act as a Respiratory Care liaison by developing/maintaining communication with the multidisciplinary care team. + Assist with developing and providing ongoing orientation/training for newly hired therapists, existing staff, nursing and LIPs. + Perform blood gas puncture and analysis (where applicable). + Perform patient education regarding treatment and care of respiratory illness/disease to patient and family (where applicable). + If designated as a Technical Consultant by the blood gas Laboratory Director, meet minimum qualifications as specified by the CLIA code of federal regulations Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Associate's Degree and three years of experience in Respiratory Therapy, including critical care or a specialty environment
  • OR•Bachelor's Degree and two years of experience in Respiratory Therapy including critical care or a specialty environment + Graduate of an accredited Program of Respiratory Therapy + Current licensure as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the NBRC + Current licensure by the Ohio Respiratory Care Processional (RCP) Board + Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross + Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) and/or Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS) Completion of a Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through the American Heart Association (AHA Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Bachelor's Degree •
Physical Requirements:
  • + Requires good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
+ Requires normal hearing and vision or corrected to normal range. + May require sitting, standing and walking for extensive periods of time. + Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. + Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
