Job Description

Functioning within the Health System's mission, vision and values, the Surgery Supervisor is a registered nurse who functions under the direction of the Manager/Director of Surgical Services and supports the operational, clinical and personnel management in the Operating Room. The Surgery Supervisor is responsible for supporting the delivery of safe, efficient, high-quality care while coordinating daily workflow, staffing, surgical throughput, and resource utilization to optimize operating room efficiency, case flow, scheduling effectiveness, and overall departmental performance. This role collaborates closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, scheduling teams, and physician offices to support an optimal patient experience, physician engagement, regulatory compliance, and operational effectiveness. The Surgery Supervisor assists in coordinating surgical case scheduling and preparation to minimize equipment, implant, instrumentation, and procedural delays while ensuring patients, surgeons, and specialty-specific needs are met. The Supervisor fosters positive physician and associate relationships and supports initiatives related to quality outcomes, associate engagement, patient satisfaction, and service excellence. The Surgery Supervisor provides oversight of daily patient care operations, including nursing and support services staffing, workflow coordination, and resource allocation to ensure cohesive, high-quality care delivery throughout the perioperative environment.
Education:
Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
Must hold a valid unrestricted license with the Ohio Board of Nursing. BLS and ACLS also required. CNOR certification, is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of three years of advanced surgical clinical experience in all services lines, including CVOR and Robotics is preferred.
Skills:
Must have strong communication skills and the ability to interact and build effective relationships with all constituents, including physicians and associates. Must also have a documented history of effective team building, creating a Culture of Safety, and leading positive change. Strong numeric, basic computer skills, and a comprehensive knowledge of all surgical services lines is required.
