Full-time Position summary: The surgical patient care coordinator is responsible for managing the adminstrative and clinical preparation of patients undergoing surgical procedures.
This role serves as a key liaison between patients, surgeons, clinical staff and external facilities to ensure a smooth and informed surgical experience. The coordinator plays a critical role in gathering medical histories, preparing preoperative documentation, scheduling procedures, and ensuring all requirements are met prior to surgery.
Key responsibilities:
Conduct preoperative assessments including reviewing medical histories, allergies, and current medications.
Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures with patients, providers, hospitals and surgical centers.
Ensure all pre-op testing (labs, imaging, clearances) are ordered, completed and documented.
Provide patients with detailed pre-op and post operative instructions and answer any related questions.
Maintain communication with surgeons and clinical teams regarding patient readiness.
Track and follow up on outstanding documentation, consents, and test results.
Ensure compliance with all HIPAA and privacy regulations.
Update and maintain accurate patient records in the EMR system.
Obtain necessary referrals for procedures.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Prefer minimum of 2 year experiences in a surgical dental or healthcare setting
Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills
