Job Description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required. Experience
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible janitorial training or experience is strongly preferred. Licenses & Certification

  • Ability to motivate and effectively supervise subordinate staff to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
Knowledge and skill acquired from past janitorial/housekeeping experiences. Working knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repair will benefit incumbent. Knowledge in the operation and maintenance of the equipment necessary to perform position duties of staff. Skills to deal with people in an effective manner in order to get business accomplished. Ability to deal with individuals in pressing situations in order to resolve problems in the best manner possible.
JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of the position is to ensure that a clean and safe environment is maintained within the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Department of Health facilities for patients and their families, Staff, visitors and the general public. This is accomplished through supervision of subordinate staff. Incumbent is supervised by the Health System Administrator and System EVS Director.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a hospital setting or ambulatory health clinic. There is common exposure to infections, infectious and communicable diseases, potentially hazardous chemicals and biohazardous materials. Incumbent must be aware of all risks involved and be willing to take precautions as required while performing the duties of the position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work requires incumbent to be on his/her feet for the entire work period. There is also a great deal of regular bending, lifting, stooping, climbing and stretching required in the performance of duties. Incumbent must be able to lift at least fifty (50) pounds.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Satisfactory job performance will be determined by successful execution of the following: Supervise and coordinate the activities of personnel engaged in housekeeping activities. Assign duties and instruct workers in the cleaning of hospital rooms and health care facilities. Inspect facilities for completeness of duties performed by the personnel and correct any errors. Prepare daily work assignments roster and maintains work performance records. Perform all administrative functions relating to the employees of the Housekeeping Department including disciplinary action, staffing, planning, budgeting and timekeeping. Attend Department Head meetings when needed. Prepare status reports relating to the performance of the Department. Inventory equipment and supplies periodically. Develop ongoing training and orientation programs for facility personnel. Perform other duties as assigned. Regular attendance is required.
