DEPARTMENT SUMMARY
Hospitality Services delivers essential, foundational support that drives a safe, healing, and welcoming environment across St. Charles Health System. The department encompasses Environmental Services, Linen and Laundry Services, Food and Nutrition Services, Retail Food Operations, and Volunteer Services across all inpatient, outpatient, and community-based settings. Hospitality Services plays a pivotal role in elevating the patient experience, empowering caregiver support, achieving operational excellence, and maintaining a pristine, secure, and compassionate environment for patients, caregivers, volunteers, and visitors throughout the organization.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The System Director of Hospitality Services provides strategic and operational leadership for St. Charles Health System's hospitality service lines, including Environmental Services, Linen and Laundry, Food and Nutrition, Retail Food, and Volunteer Services across all campuses and outpatient locations. Accountable for systemwide strategy, financial stewardship, regulatory compliance, and service standards, this leader ensures exceptional patient and caregiver experiences. The System Director partners with executive, clinical, and operational leadership to align hospitality operations with organizational goals, while mentoring a high-performing management team to foster a unified culture of accountability and service excellence throughout the enterprise. The System Director oversees hospitality leadership across all locations, directly managing managers and supervisors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
Strategic Leadership and Growth Provides visionary leadership for Hospitality Services across all St. Charles hospitals and care settings. Develops and executes long-term strategies aligned with organizational priorities and enterprise growth. Establishes systemwide hospitality standards that enhance patient experience, caregiver engagement, and operational efficiency. Leads innovation, technology adoption, and service improvements to continuously elevate quality. Serves as a key stakeholder in enterprise planning, capital allocation, and strategic initiatives. Operational and Financial Performance Oversees Environmental Services, Linen and Laundry, Food and Nutrition Services, Retail Food Operations, and Volunteer Services. Ensures standardized workflows, operational excellence, and best practices across all service lines. Manages departmental budgets, financial performance, contracts, capital planning, and vendor relationships. Uses data, analytics, and performance metrics to drive efficiency, service quality, and fiscal stewardship. Environmental Safety, Food Safety, and Regulatory Compliance Ensures compliance with all regulatory, licensing, accreditation, and safety requirements. Partners with Infection Prevention, Facilities, Nursing, and Quality teams to maintain safe environments. Leads quality assurance, performance improvement, audits, surveys, and readiness activities across hospitality services. Leadership and People Development Provides leadership, coaching, and mentorship to managers, supervisors, and frontline teams. Recruits, develops, and retains high-performing leaders and caregivers. Promotes accountability, inclusion, engagement, recognition, and professional development. Volunteer and Community Partnership Provides strategic oversight of Volunteer Services to enhance the patient, caregiver, and visitor experience. Supports the vision, mission, and values of the organization in all respects. Supports Lean principles of continuous improvement with energy and enthusiasm, functioning as a champion of change. Provides and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests. Conducts all activities with the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality. Complies with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, supporting the organization's corporate integrity efforts by acting in an ethical and appropriate manner, reporting known or suspected violation of applicable rules, and cooperating fully with all organizational investigations and proceedings. May perform additional duties of similar complexity within the organization, as required or assigned.
EDUCATION
Required:
Bachelor's degree in related field.
Preferred:
Master's degree in healthcare administration, hospitality management, business administration, environmental services, nutrition, or related field.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION
Required:
Valid Oregon driver's license and ability to meet St. Charles Health System driving requirements.

Required:
Seven (7) years' related experience with a minimum of three (3) years progressive leadership experience with at least two (2) years at a manager level or above.
Preferred:
Ten (10) years of leadership experience in healthcare hospitality or support services. Multi-hospital or integrated health system leadership experience.
