The ideal candidate is a knowledgable, detailed-oriented billing professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys sharing their expertise with others. Candidate has proven medical billing experience and a strong understanding of ophthalmology/optometry billing, surgical billing and vision plans. Required skills & abilities Several years of experience in medical billing Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 diagnosis codes and CPT-4 procedure codes Deep understanding of insurance eligibility and authorizations, benefits and reimbursement processes Experience in insurance eligibility, prior authorizations and referrals in a health care setting Advanced understanding of coding modifiers and their appropriate use Proven expertise in A/R follow-up and denial management Experience with Medicare, commercial insurance plans and vision plans Excellent communication and customer service skills Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving abilities High attention to detail and accuracy Strong team-work ethic Ability to work in fast-paced environment and manage time effectively Experience with ophthalmology and optometry billing preferred Compulink practice management experience a plus CPC, COPC or similar certification preferred What You'll Do Review and validate patient demographics, insurance details, charges and coding Verify and document insurance coverage and limits prior to patient exams using eligibility tools Contact patients regarding balance due at time of service Effectively communicate insurance coverage limits to patients Obtain prior authorizations relevant to date of service for procedures, surgeries and testing as needed Review medical records to ensure proper coding Bill claims from Compulink practice management software Download and post EFTs from clearinghouse, post insurance checks and patient payments Resolve claim edits, rejections and denials Ensure compliance with timely filing requirements and regulatory standards Assists in patient billing collection process and special billing projects Serve as a expert for billing processes, coding and payer requirements Support accurate eligibility verification, authorizations and referral processes Identify workflow improvements to reduce denials and increase efficiency Assist front office staff, when necessary, including scheduling appointments, performing check-in and check-out procedures, answering phones and day-end close activities Why Join Griffith Eye Center?
