Job Description

Summary:
This "hands on" position is responsible for ensuring Patient Care Excellence by providing clinical support and coordinating the operations of a specific physician when performing the following duties.
Essential Functions:
Coordinates physician or institute activities and maintains physician daily schedule. Escort Patient to exam room and prepare for physical evaluation by obtaining vital signs. Conduct patient interview to obtain medical history including past medical and surgical history, allergies and present condition. Review patient chart for completeness and accuracy by ensuring all pertinent studies/diagnostics are available and last physician note is in chart. Display MRI films or other studies brought by patient for office visit. Assist physician with procedures Assist patients with mobility. Provide wheelchair and help patient to next area as needed. Implements, and evaluates organization policies, goals, and objectives. Coordinates institute activities to ensure patient care and efficiency of service. Directs the nursing assessment of all patients. Participates in the development and modifications of clinical policies. Participates in infection control, discharge planning, utilization review, case management, and quality assessment activities and analysis. Interprets and enforces department and institution policies. Maintains patients' clinical records. Inspects rooms for cleanliness. Meets with physician and keeps informed of special orders concerning patients. Investigates and resolves complaints, or refers unusual problems to superior. Answers telephone within three rings, routes callers, takes messages and provides routine information to callers. Other duties may be assigned. Qualifications:
Formal training as a Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Certifications:
Act 34 PA Criminal Background Act 151 PA Child Abuse History Act 114 FBI Cogent Clearance Fingerprinting Prior medical office experience including surgical and office scheduling and patient education Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively with physicians and other team members Computer literate Casting experience preferred, but not required May be required to work until 6:00 pm on occasion Electronic Medical Records experience preferred
