In this role, you'll be at the center of both clinical coordination and family support—helping ensure a smooth patient experience while also guiding families through the surgical journey.
Schedule Daylight shifts:
3:00 PM - 11:30 PM What You'll Do Keep the Unit Running Smoothly Maintain supply levels, downtime folders, and ensure family lounge readiness Perform unit audits, reconcile charges (including specialty items), and monitor noise/quiet time Ensure compliance with hospital policies, HIPAA, and safety standards Support Patients & Families Support the Surgical Family Lounges at Montefiore and Presbyterian Provide a calming, welcoming environment for families during the surgical process Offer real-time updates and communicate throughout each stage of surgery Coordinate post-surgery connections between surgeons and families Help families understand next steps with clarity and compassion Be the Communication Hub Manage calls, paging systems, faxes, and unit communications Greet and assist patients, visitors, physicians, and staff Maintain accurate patient records and enter physician orders Utilize systems like eRecord, Bedboard, TeleTracking, and more Coordinate scheduling of tests, procedures, and patient transport Support Daily Operations Troubleshoot and maintain office equipment (computers, printers, fax, etc.) Submit and follow up on repair requests Maintain logs, reports, and filing systems Be a Team Player Build strong relationships across disciplines Support departmental improvements and process changes Take ownership and contribute to a positive team culture Grow Your Career Participate in training, feedback, and development opportunities Serve as a resource and preceptor for new staff Engage in projects and committee work Exciting What's Ahead Work in the newly completed Kamin Tower and surgical suites starting January 2027 Be part of a modern, state-of-the-art environment designed to enhance patient care and team collaboration Why You'll Love This Role Make a meaningful impact on both patients and their families Be part of a supportive, team-first culture Gain exposure to surgical workflows and clinical coordination Grow your skills in a dynamic, high-impact setting
