Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate FTE/PTE Front Desk Patient Care Coordinator to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing administrative duties with precision and professionalism. Your energetic approach will help create a welcoming environment, streamline patient flow, and ensure accurate documentation. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient care through efficient office management and effective communication. Of note, we are a busy high-volume ophthalmology practice with multiple providers and high call volume. We are excited to expand our team and look forward to hearing from qualified candidates. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly upon arrival, ensuring a positive first impression and smooth check-in process. Verify patient insurance coverage through insurance verification procedures, including Medicare and other third-party payers. Schedule appointments efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth, ensuring optimal clinic flow. Collect and process payments, including medical billing and collections, utilizing medical coding knowledge such as CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes. Maintain accurate medical records by reviewing documentation for completeness and compliance with HIPAA regulations. Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately and managing patient inquiries promptly. Assist with intake procedures, including collecting medical histories and updating patient information in various EHR systems like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix. Support office management tasks such as filing, data entry, and maintaining organized medical records while ensuring confidentiality of health information. Collaborate with clinical staff to coordinate care plans and facilitate seamless communication between patients and providers. Utilize computer skills to operate office software such as the Microsoft Office suite for documentation and reporting purposes. Skills Proven experience in a medical office setting with a strong front desk or administrative support background. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems, MODMED preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and medical billing processes. Ability to verify insurance benefits accurately and handle Medicare claims efficiently. Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and active listening abilities. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and record keeping. Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office; experience with multi-line phone systems and 10-key typing is beneficial. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure compliance in all aspects of health information management.
