Summary:
The Cancer Registry Quality & Accreditation Manager is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, integrity, and security of data within the Cancer Registry through the development, implementation, and oversight of comprehensive quality assurance processes. This role provides ongoing education, feedback, and performance support to registry staff to maintain compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and reporting standards.
Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance & Data Integrity:
Develop, implement, and maintain standardized quality assurance and quality control processes across all UPHS Corporate Cancer Registry facilities Conduct routine and ad hoc case reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with state central registries, NCDB, and other reporting entities. Perform ongoing quality reviews of RCRS cases, quality measures, staging, and treatment data. Analyze quality review findings, identify trends or deficiencies, and prioritize corrective actions in collaboration with Cancer Registry leadership Ensure confidentiality, security, and appropriate use of Cancer Registry data in compliance with organizational, state, and federal regulations.
Education, Feedback & Performance Improvement:
Provide timely, constructive feedback to individual abstractors and registry staff, including supporting documentation and references to applicable standards. Develop and deliver education related to data standards, registry manuals, accreditation requirements, and identified quality issues. Participate in relevant educational webinars and professional development activities, incorporating learned best practices into registry workflows. Communicate quality findings, trends, and recommendations to management and the department. Maintain awareness of annual requirements and evolving reportability criteria and proactively share findings with the department to support compliance.
Accreditation Support & Compliance:
Assist with the development, implementation, and monitoring of policies and procedures to support compliance with CoC, NAPBC, and other accreditation requirements. Support continuous accreditation readiness, including preparation for surveys, data submissions, and ongoing standards compliance. Serve as Cancer Registry Quality Control Coordinator for CoC and NAPBC as assigned. Collaborate with Cancer Committee leadership, administrators, and service line leaders to support accreditation standards and performance expectations. Serve as an alternate Cancer Registry representative on CoC and NAPBC committees, as needed. Operational & Departmental Support Participate in registry operations as needed, including case‑finding, abstracting, follow‑up, and data maintenance. Support and assist with data validation and monthly data submissions. Attend and actively participate in departmental meetings and quality initiatives. Serve as backup support to Cancer Registry management during Touch Base Team (TBT) and related meetings.
Education/ Experience:
H.S. Diploma/GED (Required) 5+ years Cancer Registry experience in a hospital setting. 1+ years experience with quality reviews. (Required) Associates degree in Healthcare and/or Business Management 3+ years demonstrate experience presenting groups, educating others and providing constructive feedback Oncology Data Specialist Certification (Preferred) We believe that the best care for our patients starts with the best care for our employees.
