Job Description Position Summary The Executive Director, Clinical Development - HIV Treatment & Cure is responsible for providing strategic and scientific leadership across Gilead's HIV treatment and cure portfolio. This position is responsible for strategic and scientific leadership across Gilead's HIV treatment and cure portfolio, including clinical development strategy, program oversight, data interpretation, and cross-functional leadership. •This role is located in Foster City, CA but we would also consider remote work for highly qualified candidates. Key Responsibilities Lead HIV clinical development strategy and execution across treatment and cure programs Oversee study design, execution, data interpretation, and benefit-risk assessment Scientific & Regulatory Leadership Provide scientific and regulatory leadership for key development deliverables and interactions Lead key regulatory interactions and major development deliverables Leadership, Talent & Culture Lead and develop senior clinical leaders and foster a culture of accountability and collaboration Promote a culture of scientific excellence, accountability, and collaboration Cross‑Functional & Executive Collaboration Collaborate across key functions and influence senior stakeholders in a matrixed environment Influence senior stakeholders and lead complex cross-functional initiatives Minimum Education & Experience Advanced degree (MD, DO, PharmD, or PhD) in a relevant scientific discipline, or equivalent, with significant biopharmaceutical drug development experience Typically requires 8+ years of experience with an MD or equivalent, or 14+ years with an advanced scientific degree Extensive experience leading HIV or related biopharma clinical development programs Experience with study planning, protocol design, regulatory filings, and major scientific communications People management experience in the biopharmaceutical industry Experience influencing executive stakeholders is strongly preferred Additional Requirements Expert knowledge of drug development and pharmaceutical regulatory requirements Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills in cross-functional settings Demonstrated ability to set direction, lead change, and influence senior stakeholders Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, matrixed environment Ability to lead effectively in a multidisciplinary, cross-functional environment and foster inclusive, open dialogue Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to translate complexity into clear strategy and execution plans Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, align senior stakeholders, and drive commitment to cross-functional priorities The salary range for this position is:
Bay Area:
$349,010.00 - $451,660.00.
Other US Locations:
$317,305.00 - $410,630.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
