Eye Associates of New Mexico has an outstanding career opportunity as a NNM-Patient Services Financial Assistance Coordinator! This position is part-time, 20 hours per week. Are your ideas valued? POSITION SUMMARY
The Patient Services & Financial Assistance Coordinator assists patients with financial and front-end intake needs, including billing inquiries, payment options, financial assistance programs, check-in, and medication coordination. This hybrid role supports both financial assistance enrollment and the intake process, ensuring smooth patient interactions and compliance with payment and program requirements. This position requires organizational skills, attention to detail, analytical skills and the ability to manage sensitive patient financial and clinical information.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist patients with enrolling in co-pay programs, charitable funds, and other financial aid options. Collect co-pays, co-insurance, and deductibles during intake, ensuring accurate processing via Phreesia. Educate patients on financial responsibilities and available assistance options. Work with manufacturers and charitable organizations to expedite financial assistance applications. Follow up on financial assistance approvals, denials, and required documentation. Maintain accurate and confidential records of financial applications, payments, and communications. Offer payment plan options and ensure compliance with organizational policies. Support scheduling of procedures based on physician plans and time frames. Assist with medication dispensing via PODIS, ensuring timely documentation and compliance. Help maintain inventory for intravitreal injections. Provide front desk check-in support at clinic sites, ensuring smooth patient intake. Ensure adherence to all financial assistance program regulations. The annual completion of assigned Learning Management System (LMS) courses is mandatory. Any individual who has not completed their assigned training prior to November 30th of each year may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate s or bachelor s degree preferred. Minimum two years of experience in healthcare financial assistance, billing, patient accounts, or administrative support. Knowledge of insurance verification, co-pays, deductibles, and financial assistance programs. Experience with patient intake systems (e.g., Phreesia) and medication dispensing (e.g., PODIS). Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly explain financial information to patients. Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Must maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines. Must obtain Certified Patient Services Specialist (CPSS) certification within one year of hire.
