MSW Program Description Public Behavioral Health (PBH) Project Coordinator Master of Social Work (MSW) This is a temporary, non-benefitted position, scheduled for 20 hours per week.PROJECT GOALS
To better prepare MSW students to provide effective, evidence-based behavioral health care for underserved consumers in publicly funded programs and settings To better prepare new MSWs to proactively support the integration of behavioral health care across public systems To enhance the hiring, retention and career development of MSWs working in California's public behavioral health care systems, programs and settingsPOSITION SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator of the HCAI funded Public Behavioral Health Training Program (PBH), this position is responsible for providing the Project's specialized and complex administrative support and coordination functions. The Project Coordinator must demonstrate initiative, problem solving, financial reporting, and decision-making skills. The Project Coordinator will work directly with field faculty to identify, enhance and expand field training opportunities and develop and implement enhanced field seminars for PBH trainees; collaborate with faculty and community partners to enhance and deliver designated courses for PBH trainees; monitor, support and supervise trainees as needed for them to progress through and complete program requirements and secure post-graduation service employment, including ensuring trainees complete all centrally coordinated training program requirements. The Project Coordinator will participate in and coordinate the participation of other faculty, field instructors, partner agencies and trainees in project meetings, trainings and symposia as directed by the PBH MSW Training Program and communicate all relevant information shared with PBH trainees in a complete and timely manner. The Project Coordinator will support project reporting and evaluation activities by providing complete and timely data to the PBH MSW Training Program and will coordinate trainee recruitment and selection forAY 2026-27.
Examples of DutiesESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include, but are not limited to, the following: Provides direct comprehensive administrative and clerical support to the Principal Investigator (PI). Assists PI & Project Trainers by coordinating all project activities. Oversees all written communications, schedules, meetings and contacts with students, faculty, field supervisors, and community partners. Coordinates and oversees complex travel arrangements for all project staff and consultants. Provides budget support for the Project, including monitoring program and operating expenditures. Coordinating and administering recruitment, retention, and outreach activities for the Project. Demonstrating strong writing, speaking, personal, and team building skills; Assists in the development of project infrastructure to accomplish the goals and objectives of the program. Maintains essential records, tracking systems and financial reports, coordinating with supportive university personnel. Works collaboratively with the PI and Project Evaluator to compile and collect data, including data entry, survey distribution and collection.OTHER FUNCTIONS
Performs other duties as assigned. PC role is instructional; PC teaches required course/s and/or leads specialized PBH field seminars or field seminar enhancements PC has regular individual contact with each trainee every month PC leads trainee recruitment and selection each spring PC communicates with SJSU and completes most program surveysPHYSICAL WORK

Education and Experience:
PC must be a faculty person (MSW or PhD, tenure track or lecturer) with expertise in public behavioral health care as a field of practiceDESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Thorough, detailed knowledge of applicable university infrastructure, policies, and procedures. Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Close attention to detail and a high level of organization are both essential. Experience to be fully functional in all technical aspects of work assignments. Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects. Ability to apply independently a wide variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist. Ability to perform standard business math, such as calculate ratios and percentages, track financial data, and make projections. Ability to draft and compose correspondence and standard reports. Ability to effectively handle a broad range of interpersonal contacts, including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature. Ability to independently organize and plan work projects, including handling multiple priorities and troubleshooting unanticipated problems, in a busy environment. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a professional, persuasive and tactful manner. Ability to maintain confidential student records. Ability to and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within a multicultural, diverse academic community. Special Conditions of EmploymentSALARY AND BENEFITS
