POSITION SUMMARY
The full-time Hybrid OTA SiteCoordinator faculty member facilitates meaningful learning of the course competencies in the curriculum and proactively supports all facetsof the learning environment. Faculty provide education through a hybrid delivery model that combines on-ground and online learning, enablinggraduates to fulfill the evolving needs of the Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) marketplace. The Hybrid OTA Site Coordinator facultymember encourages a culture of learning that values mutual responsibility and respect, life-long learning and ethics, as well as personaland professional development. In addition to instructional duties, the faculty member serves as the Hybrid Site Coordinator for theOrlando instructional site. The Hybrid Site Coordinator is a full-time occupational therapy practitioner responsible for ensuring uniformimplementation of the OTA Program and for maintaining ongoing communication with the Program Director regarding academic quality, studentsuccess, and program integrity at the Orlando instructional site. The Hybrid Site Coordinator will receive a 25% reduction in classroominstruction duties to ensure adequate time allocation for the completion of site coordination responsibilities.
KEY JOBELEMENTS
Instructional Duties:
Performs instructional duties as assigned and/or as outlinedin the Academic Faculty job description and in accordance with the provisions of the Faculty Supplement to the South University EmployeeHandbook. Provides competency-based education which aligns with the South University model of curricula and supports hybrid deliverymethods. Designs and delivers class instruction that incorporates student learning outcomes and accreditation standards, creatingactivities that promote critical thinking across online and on-ground environments. Promotes student success by demonstratingflexibility, passion for teaching, and effective facilitation of student engagement. Evaluates student performance against coursesyllabi and rubrics; provides advising to students in the Pre-Professional and Professional Hybrid Curricula. Maintains accuraterecords and reports, enforces policies, and contributes to campus and hybrid program culture through meetings, events, andcommittees. Site Coordination-Orlando Instructional Site Serves as thedesignated full-time faculty Hybrid Site Coordinator at the Orlando instructional site, as required by accreditationstandards. Ensures uniform implementation of the Hybrid OTA curriculum, policies, and procedures between the Tampa primary campusand Orlando instructional site. Maintains ongoing communication with the Program Director regarding hybrid instructional quality,student outcomes, and resource needs at Orlando. Provides faculty leadership, serving as the primary faculty contact at the Orlandosite. Collaborates with Tampa-based faculty and staff to ensure consistency in hybrid teaching, lab instruction, and studentassessment. Supports program assessment, accreditation activities, and data collection at the Orlando site.
Laband Faculty Oversight:
Oversees a teaching/lab assistant, as appropriate to course(s), at the Orlando instructionallocation; orients assistants to roles, responsibilities, safety procedures, and course/lab concepts. OtherResponsibilities Maintains standards of the profession, including rules and regulations of licensing andcertification. Pursues professional development, scholarly activity, and service consistent with facultyexpectations. Performs other duties as determined by the Program Director and/or the Campus Dean of Academic Affairs andOperations.
REQUIREMENTS
For OTRs:
Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy and aMaster's degree or doctoral degree in another field awarded by an institution that is accredited by a USDE recognized institutionalaccrediting agency, required; Master's degree in Occupational Therapy with teaching experience or a Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapyawarded by an institution that is accredited by a USDE recognized institutional accrediting agency, preferred.
For COTAs:
Minimum of Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant and a Bachelor's degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by aUSDE recognized institutional accrediting agency, required. Zero to two years of experience in instruction or formalizededucation process, preferably in a post-secondary or college institution. Experience with hybrid course instruction and delivery ispreferred. Minimum of two years of experience as an occupational therapist or certified occupational therapy assistant,required. Membership in a professional association, preferably linked to area of instruction, preferred. Must be eligible for licensure, currently licensed or otherwise credentialed according to regulations in the state or jurisdictionin which the program is located. Current knowledge in area of practice, e thical standards and standards of practice,required. Eligible for a driver's license or currently holds a valid driver's license in the state in which the program islocated, required. Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to buildsuccessful relationships with diverse stakeholders. Demonstrates outstanding conflict resolution skills. Demonstrates time management and detail-oriented skills. Demonstrates excellence in organization and attention todetail. Demonstrates effective computer skills (e.g., software, analytical, report writing). Demonstrates clinical competency and compliance with professional standards of practice. Able to work effectivelyunder pressure and to meet frequently occurring deadlines. Able to develop a professional rapport with diversestakeholders. Able to develop and complete projects without continuous direct supervision. Able to learnfrom students' participation, demonstrates fair and consistent behavior in all matters, and shows compassion without beingineffectual. Able to perform responsibilities within legal and ethical boundaries. Able to lift 20pounds when performing job responsibilities. Able to stand for extended periods of time (e.g., one hour or more) whenteaching, facilitating labs or on fieldtrips. Able to demonstrate techniques specific to the practice of occupationaltherapy. Able to travel between the Tampa primary campus and the Orlando instructional site to fulfill instructionalresponsibilities.
