The Utah Department of Corrections has an opening for a Therapist Supervisor to work in our team. Our team is seeking dedicated professionals to join our multidisciplinary teams and provide targeted, evidenced-based treatment to individuals involved in the correctional continuum. We are transforming passive housing models into an active, structured behavior change system. Our mission is to reduce risk, improve outcomes, and protect communities by ensuring that placement decisions are driven by risk, need, and responsivity.
Qualifications Principle Duties:
Plan and Administer Programs
  • Develop goals and objectives. Establish program performance criteria. Develop and update program curricula. Plan program implementation; provide direction to pilot and ongoing programs. Propose innovative program activities. Conduct program-monitoring visits. Advocate for programs and resources. Work with a supervisor to standardize programs. Manage/Supervise Staff
  • Define Job Duties. Coordinate Staff recruitment, selection, and orientation. Write performance standards. Conduct performance appraisals. Monitor and consult with contractors/staff. Ensure staff training hours are completed and staff maintain proper DOPL license. Develop an internal appraisal process for case workers and interns who work in our programs.
  • Educate and Train Staff
  • Write and oversee training curricula. Work with a supervisor to contract for specialized training; seek relevant professional development for staff. Conduct training. Develop staff awareness on the importance of behavioral health via educational and training venues. Develop expertise around behavioral health services. Manage Fidelity of Services
  • Develop, implement and maintain quality assurance processes for treatment programs provided to the offenders. Write and update audit standards. Conduct program audits. Monitor corrective action plan. Identify, direct and monitor therapists, case workers and interns involvement, and activity in treatment programs. Develop Policies and Procedures
  • Assist in the determination for the need of a specific policy/procedure.
Review national trends and accepted standards. Research/comply with applicable statutes/guidelines. Review existing policies. Write policy and procedure drafts.
Minimum Requirements:
Has at least 2 years of directly related professional experience Licensed for at least two years as a Psychologist, Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist or Clinical Mental Health Counselor in good standing

Licensed Psychologist, Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, or Clinical Mental Health Counselor. This job is NOT public safety certified and does not require peace officer status or certification. Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc. Risks found in potentially dangerous or unusual environmental stress situations, e.g. being subject to possible physical attack, etc. Risks also require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines. Safety and risk issues inherit while working within a correctional facility with an inmate population are presumed Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work. Salary ranges specified reflect a minimum starting and top of range dollar amount. Actual rate per hour will be determined by evaluation of qualifications and skills of the individual and the availability of monies through budget and grants or by following DHRM rule.
