Hospital Coding Manager Conway Medical Center • Health Information Management Conway, SC Leadership/Management Full Time, Primarily 1st Shift- Days, 80 Posted 04/10/2026 Req # 13142
Position Summary:
The Hospital Coding Manager will provide day-to-day leadership to coding teams across all hospital services. (INP, Observation, SDC's, Recurring, OP etc). This role will collaborate with Directors, CDI, Quality, HIM and Revenue Cycle leadership to align coding operations withanizational strategy.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field required. Master's degree preferred. Experience Minimum 7-10 years of progressive coding/HIM experience, including 3-5 years in a leadership role required. Licensure/Certification/Registration AHIMA or AAPC credential required.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop recruitment, onboarding and retention strategies to maintain a skilled team. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth. Participate in long-term planning for coding staffing, technology adoption, andpliance initiatives. Oversee accurate and timely assignment of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes in accordance with federal, state and payer regulations. This is a leadership role that entails developing policies, supervising coding staff, implementing strategic goals, and performing audits and quality reviews of medical records to ensurepliance with CMS, state, and federal regulations. Monitor productivity and turnaround times to meet established KPIs. Ensure effective workflows for coding, query management, and charge capture. Collaborate with IT and HIM to optimize the use ofputer-assisted coding, EMR integration, and auditing tools. Maintainpliance with CMS, OIG, and other regulatory guidelines. Oversee routine internal and external coding audits; implement corrective action plans as needed. Provide education and mentorship to staff on coding guidelines, updates, and best practices. Support accurate documentation and coding for quality reporting, case mix index, and otheranizational metrics. Supervise and evaluate coding leadership and staff coders. Greet all patients and their apanying family members when applicable and provide exemplary customer service. Work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues, physicians, and department heads. Effectively utilize stronganizational skills. Consistently display effective verbalmunication skills. Proficient understanding and use of technology/PC skills required. Regularly exercise independent judgement. Complete other duties as assigned by department leadership.
