We are seeking a dedicated and dependable Recovery Coordinator who demonstrates strong integrity, professionalism, and a passion for our mission. Position Summary The Recovery Coordinator manages the full birth tissue donation process at assigned hospital partners. This role works directly within Labor & Delivery departments to identify potential donors, educate postpartum mothers about donation, obtain consent, recover birth tissue using sterile technique, and coordinate packaging and shipment of donated tissue. Recovery Coordinators must maintain strong relationships with hospital staff while ensuring compliance with all BTDS policies, hospital requirements, and regulatory standards (AATB and FDA). This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, delivery-driven hospital environment. This role is primarily hospital-based and requires regular interaction with Labor & Delivery staff and postpartum patients. Candidates must meet hospital vendor credentialing requirements, including verifiable immunization for hepatitis B, COVID-19, influenza, and other communicable diseases. A Typical Day in This Role A Recovery Coordinator's schedule often begins early in the morning and may occasionally include weekend coverage depending on hospital activity.

Daily responsibilities typically include:

Visiting assigned hospital partners to check for potential birth tissue donors following deliveries Communicating with Labor & Delivery nursing staff to identify eligible donors Educating postpartum mothers about birth tissue donation and answering questions about the process Guiding interested donors through the informed consent process Completing donor medical and social history screening questionnaires Reviewing medical records to determine donor eligibility Recovering and packaging birth tissue using sterile technique in a designated hospital recovery space Completing accurate documentation and preparing same day shipments The number of recoveries can vary each day depending on delivery activity and donor eligibility. Schedule Expectations Early morning start times (as early as 6:30 AM) depending on hospital activity Occasional weekend coverage may be required Daily schedule may vary depending on delivery volume Must be comfortable working in a clinical hospital environment including Labor & Delivery units Education & Experience Healthcare or medical field experience preferred Previous OPO, tissue recovery, and/or eye banking experience strongly preferred Proficiency in sterile and aseptic technique preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to tissue banking Familiarity with AATB standards and FDA regulations Strong written and verbal communication skills Excellent organizational and customer service skills Ability to communicate with hospital staff and postpartum patients in a professional and compassionate manner Strong attention to detail and ability to follow regulated processes Physical Requirements Ability to lift and move 10-50+ lbs throughout the workday Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods Comfortable using telephone, computer systems, and in-person communication in a clinical environment
