Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The clinical unit director position provides therapeutic services to all patients to facilitate successful treatment for patients on the RTF and/or Acute Unit. This person will conduct tasks specific to the individual's discipline and will also perform managerial duties. This person will maintain performance in applicable job specifications in addition to carrying out unit specific program goals and objectives. A clinical unit director supervises assigned MHA staff as they implement activities with patients, provide work assignments, and charting requirements. This individual will provide ongoing education to all direct care staff as well as oversee implementation of clinical/managerial tasks including but not limited to: hiring MHAs, staff development, discipline/termination of MHAs, clinical groups, MHA groups, staff development, documentation, therapeutic interactions with coworkers and patients, behavior plan implementation, and program development.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
AND TRAINING
Associate degree at minimum. Two to five years of patient care experience.
EXPERIENCE
Prefer at least an associate degree in the field of human services with two years of professional experience providing services to psychiatric patients. Supervisory experience preferred.
LICENSURE
A valid South Carolina Driver's License. Must have current certification/licensure within discipline.
PHYSICAL
Must be in good physical and mental health.
Medium work:
exerting 20-50 pounds of force occasionally.
SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to work effectively with mentally ill patients. Demonstrates ability to understand basic medical, psychiatric terminology, psychopharmacology, treatment team concept, psychiatric illness and inter/intra department concept. Demonstrates ability to work with community resources and hospital staff to meet appropriate need in treatment. Must be able to work independently and cooperatively with program staff, conduct psychoeducation groups, follow instructions and record information accurately.
