The Chief of Clinical Operations will serve as an administrator and oversee, maintain, and manage clinical services within all state correctional facilities. Works directly with the HSA (Health Services Administrator) for each site to ensure that clinical procedures are in compliance with policy and accreditation standards. Will also work directly with and provide support to special projects (such as new EHR implementation), and will ensure that all staff members are appropriately trained on clinic procedures. Assists with contract negotiation, policy and procedure development, staff recruitment, and the monitoring of staffing levels (including contracted staff). Additionally, the Chief of Clinical Operations monitors contracts and budgetary considerations, frequently communicating with wardens and other senior facility staff. There is direct supervision of eight staff members, including five Health Services Administrators (HSAs), an Infection Control Specialist, a Clinical Informatics Specialist, and a Clinical Educator.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of South Dakota; Strong nursing assessment skills, critical thinking skills, initiative, team-oriented, and communication skills.
Knowledge of:
nursing theories, principles, concepts, terminology, techniques, and practices; supervisory practices and procedures; clinic administration; accreditation standards; policy and procedure development; available community resources; program planning; training practices and procedures.
Ability to:
supervise and train staff; provide healthcare to inmates; communicate information clearly and concisely; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and inmates; comply with accreditation standards and budgetary principles; work and coordinate activities with security staff.
Work Environment:
This position can be based in Sioux Falls, Rapid City, Springfield or Pierre, South Dakota. Must be able to travel to all facilities regularly.
