The Clinical Simulation Lab Specialist is responsible for supporting the coordination, operation, and maintenance of simulation-based learning environments. This role ensures simulation activities are executed efficiently and consistently by managing lab logistics, equipment, technology, and day-to-day operational readiness. What you will do Coordinates day-to-day simulation lab operations, including scheduling, room setup, teardown, and turnover to ensure efficient utilization of lab space and resources. Prepares simulation environments for learning activities, including equipment setup, supply staging, scenario programming, and technology testing prior to sessions. Operates high
- mid•and low-fidelity simulations and equipment, including manikins and audiovisual systems to support scenario execution and learner engagement.
Management simulation technology during sessions, including real-time physiological adjustments, troubleshooting, and scenario flow support. Serves as the voice/operator for manikins and supports standardized patient coordination as applicable. Performs routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and basic repair of simulation equipment; escalates complex issues to vendors as needed. Maintains inventory of simulation supplies and equipment; monitors par levels and coordinates ordering and replacement to ensure operational readiness. Ensures simulation lab readiness through standardized setup processes, equipment checks, and adherence to safety and infection control practices. Collaborates with clinical educators and program leads to translate learning objectives into simulation setup, equipment needs, and technical execution plans. Supports simulation-based education across orientation, transition to practice, competency validation, and ongoing professional development programs. Assists with scenario preparation, including programming, testing, and resetting simulation scenarios to ensure consistency across sessions. Manages audiovisual recording systems, including setup, recording, storage, and retrieval of simulation sessions to support debriefing and evaluation. Tracks and documents simulation utilization metrics, equipment usage, and operational data to support program evaluation and continuous improvement. Maintains organization of the simulation lab, storage areas, and digital files to ensure accessibility and standardization across users. Provides onboarding and basic training to educators and facilitators on simulation equipment. Ensures compliance with organizational policies, accreditation standards, and simulation best practice (ex. SSH standards) Participates in quality improvement initiatives to enhance simulation efficiency, standardization, and learner experience. Supports special projects, system initiatives, and expansion of simulation capabilities. Education Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's Degree Nursing OR Relevant area of professional practice (Allied Health, Respiratory Care) Master's Degree Nursing Experience Qualifications Required
- 2 years General nursing or clinical practice Preferred
- Experience as in a simulation lab, clinical educator, or in a clinical academic or professional development role Skills and Abilities Highly organized, detail-oriented, with ability to manage multiple priorities.
Detail oriented, self-motivated, and self-managed Excellent written and oral communication skills Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel, Forms, and PowerPoint. Strong problem-solving capabilities Strong collaboration and cross-functional partnerships Strong knowledge of specialty standards of practice, Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH), ANPD Scope of Practice Model, and adult-learning principles. Ability to assess, design, and implement education that supports adult learning and practice change. Skilled facilitator, coach, and mentor across levels of clinical associates. Experience with simulation-based development. Knowledge of competency-based education, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement methodologies. Knowledge and skill in clinical care.
