Responsibilities:
Obtain pre-certifications, prior-authorizations, and referrals for patient procedures, surgeries, and treatments as required by insurance providers. Review patient coverage and communicate with insurance companies, healthcare providers and patients to gather necessary information for the authorization process. Track and follow up on pending authorizations, ensuring approvals are received in a timely manner. Collaborate with the billing department to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement processes. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all authorization requests, approvals, denials and related correspondence. Investigate and resolve authorization issues, appeal denied requestions when appropriate and documents the appeals process. Help to educate the patient on the authorization process and act as a liaison between patient and insurance companies. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and protect patient confidentiality.
Qualifications:
Associate or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or a related field preferred. 1+ years of experience in a medical office setting preferred. Familiarity with medical terminology and coding (CPT, ICD-10 is a plus) Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment Excellent customer service and computer skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Friendly, personable demeanor Detail oriented We are committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
