JOB DESCRIPTION
Manages and evaluates the Disease Intervention staff and operation, ensuring the timely follow-up of all reportable sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) occurring in the community.
Management Scope:
Manages generally fifteen (15) exempt and non-exempt staff members
RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Supervises and evaluates supervisory staff, to include developing interviewing, and counseling skills provides training, education and technical assistance. 2. Establishes objectives for programs, develops protocols and appointment systems, as well as assists in planning, analyzing, developing and coordinating disease intervention services in the agency. 3. Generates various reports as required by the local and state centers for Disease Control, and other applicable agencies, and develops budget proposals and recommendations. 4. Administers quality assurance programs; conducts field audits; analyzes epidemiologic workload managed by subordinate supervisors; determines training needs; and provides guidance, and direction. 5. Plans and participates in disease intervention related research projects and reviews current STD intervention literature. 6. Monitors surveillance systems to ensure STDs are reported timely, ensures that policies relating to confidentiality and sensitivity of patient information are strictly followed, assesses problems, and recommends corrective actions. 7. Oversees the daily supervision of the HIV testing and Counseling Clinic 8. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Experience and Training:
Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Health, or in a job related field of study. Three (3) years of professional work related experience, including one (1) year of supervisory experience.
Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Skilled in the use of standard software applications. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License, with a good driving record and reliable transportation.
Physical/Environmental Requirements:
Must be ambulatory. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs., unassisted. Ability to travel to various work site locations.
