The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in medical office operations, insurance processes, and patient communication. This role is vital in ensuring smooth patient flow, accurate insurance verification, and compliance with healthcare regulations. The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent organizational skills, medical terminology knowledge, and a proactive approach to patient service. Responsibilities Verify patient insurance coverage accurately by reviewing managed care policies and insurance information. Collect and update patient medical records while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Assist patients with appointment scheduling, reminders, and follow-up communications to enhance their experience. Collaborate with medical staff to ensure proper coding using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards for billing purposes. Manage medical office documentation efficiently, including medical records and coding documentation. Coordinate with insurance companies to obtain pre-authorizations and resolve coverage issues promptly. Maintain thorough knowledge of managed care plans and dental office procedures to support diverse patient needs. Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations, including HIPAA privacy standards, during all patient interactions and record handling. Qualifications Prior experience working in a medical or dental office environment is highly preferred. Strong understanding of managed care processes and insurance verification procedures. Proficiency in medical terminology, medical records management, and medical coding practices such as CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to safeguard patient information effectively. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting. Effective communication skills for interacting professionally with patients, insurance representatives, and healthcare providers. Office experience combined with familiarity in medical billing or coding is advantageous; experience in dental offices is a plus.
