Job Description

The Nurse Manager is responsible for ensuring the provision of high quality patient care by assisting in management of clinical services, staff personnel, surgeons, and other administrative duties, in accordance with the facility's policies, procedures, goals and objectives. This individual must exhibit competency in performing all functions and duties of assigned surgical services, as well as demonstrate great leadership to develop and maintain a culture of collaboration to continuously improve unit operations, physician relations, and patient care/outcomes.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Delivers the highest standard of patient care available by establishing priorities based on essential patient needs, available resources, equipment and supplies. Performs as a cross-functional team member to improve and facilitate patient flow throughout admission, pre-op, intraop, post-op, and discharge process. Works closely with the Director of Nursing, Medical Directors and Leadership Team to promote a positive working environment between the front office, clinical staff, nursing team, surgeons, and external physicians' offices. Provide direct clinical support and nursing care in all areas of the facility, including assuming responsibility to provide relief for lunches/breaks and/or coverage for staff call-outs. Lead quality improvement processes to ensure proper implementation in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI), Risk Management, and Infection Prevention of the Surgery Center, as directed. Implements best practices for infection control prevention, and updates infection control policies and procedures to meet regulatory standards. Assist in staff scheduling, ensuring appropriate staff, ancillary personnel, and any needed vendor reps are scheduled to render safe patient care, as requested or directed. Assist in developing and implementing orientation programs, training, and continuing education for staff development; Serve as an available resource to provide guidance and clinical support to staff, as needed. Assist in maintaining continued compliance with government regulatory agencies, AAAHC accreditation, and other regulations governing ASCs, to ensure the facility's existing policies and procedures are understood, followed, and implemented by all required personnel. Assist in coordination of activities with the Administrator, Director of Nursing, Medical Director and the Quality Committee(s) to improve department services, including developing and establishing standards of nursing care within the Operating Room, Pre-Op, PACU, and other corresponding ancillary areas. Assist in maintaining vendor/maintenance contracts; schedule routine and emergency maintenance on all equipment under contract, as needed. Communicate with courtesy when interacting with patients, physicians, staff, vendors and guests - in person, on the telephone, or by email at all times. Represent the organization with a positive and professional image in all levels of operation, internal and public. Hold a high level of professionalism when interacting with clients, patients, and staff members. Maintain a well-groomed appearance and professional attire at all times. Practice patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and facility policies and procedures. Perform other job related duties, as assigned or directed.
Qualifications:
Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas Valid BLS and ACLS certification. 3+ years of clinical/nurse management experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center/Outpatient Facility required. Must be knowledgeable in all aspects of surgical nursing (Pre-Op/PACU/Circulating) and have demonstrated knowledge to respond quickly and skillfully in high-stress environments or situations. Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively disseminate accurate and pertinent information to appropriate personnel. Must be a team player and have the ability to multitask and work independently to meet deadlines. Must have a high attention to detail, and possess strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills. •
