CPR Full Job Description Job Summary:
As the Medical Service Coordinator (MSC) this role will communicate and collaborate with the LVN to obtain technical assistance in the implementation of medical services. The MSC responsibilities will include, completion of treatment authorization requests (TAR's), coordination of the provision of initial physicals by a licensed physician, preparation and revision of medication logs, timely reporting of medical incidents (e.g., SIRs, DFPS reports), and preparation of immunization records for County Health Department audits. This individual will use sound medical and professional judgment and best practices to support the medical, safety and well-being of every child in care. He/She is also responsible for maintaining compliance with established regulatory agencies, and federal standards requirements.
Essential Functions:
Ensure services are expedited by ensuring a physical screening is provided to UC within forty-eight (48) business hours of admission by a local licensed health care professional and certified medical staff for all UC in care. Coordinate, maintain, and update the medication management system under the direct supervision of the LVN to allow for the administration of medication to UC in accordance with DFPS, ORR, and DHHS policies and procedures. MSC will maintain relationships with the local area providers, pharmacies, mental health providers, along with ORR and DHS. Collaborates with the Director of Medical Services and will be responsible for the implementation of all changes and updates in DHS, ORR, DFPS, and the County Health Department policies and procedures. Prepare and review statistical information for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Meet all pre-determined deadlines required by program and federal partners. Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards that are applicable to this position. Ensure timely reporting of all medical incidents (e.g., SIRs, DFPS reports). Participate in scheduled meetings, team decisions and operations. Adhere to scheduled hours pertaining to position, remain available for on-call scheduling, and work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed, requested, or deemed appropriate. Know, understand, and apply positive behavior management techniques including verbal redirection, de-escalation, and containment. Know and recognize the signs of abuse, neglect, and exploitation and sexually provocative behavior and implement professional response, reporting and documenting procedures. Work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers, professionals, and children. Communicate effectively in writing and verbally. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining control and professional composure at all times and making decisions based on the needs of the program and service population. Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position. Exhibit the ability to maintain professional people skills, oral, written, listening, and non-verbal communication skills. Able to react professionally and productively to change and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hire and Bilingual (English/Spanish). Minimum of 1 year of employment experience in the child welfare field working with children and/or adolescents in a social service setting. Registered Medical Assistant Certification (RMA/CMA) preferred. Must be current on medical practices, issues, trends, and be able to coordinate problem-solving strategies in order to meet the medical needs of children in care. Must possess a valid state driver's license and be eligible to drive to facilitate program services as required by contractual agreement. Cleared TB test and pre-employment background check and subject to random drug tests. Must be flexible and be willing to work irregular and long hours including evenings and weekends.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to obtain and perform Emergency Behavior Intervention Training (EBI)/Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification and First Aid Certification (CPR). Must be able to supervise clients indoors and outdoors as necessary. Bending, stooping, and lifting up to 15lbs required to complete daily tasks. Most activities include repetitive motions and can include overhead reaching.
Work Environment:
Work is at a youth care facility at which minors receive multiple services. Work shifts are subject to change. Noise levels vary from mild to moderate. Predominantly indoors, occasional outdoor monitoring or activities.
