Job Description

Position Summary:
The Unit Director coordinates and directs the clinical and other unit activities necessary to provide quality patient care. Provides leadership to facilitate staff development and productive working relationships within the health care team.
Qualifications:
A.
Education:
Holds a current Texas permit or license as a Registered Nurse (RN) required upon hire or transfer to the department. Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) required upon hire or transfer to the department. Master'sdegree in nursing preferred. B.
Training and Experience:
1. Current BLS through the American Heart Association required upon hire or transfer to the department. 2. Full time status. Minimum of three (3) years full-time R.N. experience. Prefer minimum one (1) year leadership experience in a defined leadership role. 3. Successful completion of general and nursing orientation within 3 months of hire. 4. Completion of the following competencies within three (3) months of hire or transfer:
Leadership:
professional standards, ensure policies and procedures are incorporated into quality care, delegation, decision-making, conflict management Facilitate development of nursing personnel Maintain awareness of staff skills and knowledge Fiscal Management Staff evaluation Role model Continuous improvement, identification of new opportunities for performance improvement Professional communication Progressive discipline Goal setting Age Specific Care Professional development Recruitment and retention
Unusual Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
A. Heavy Lifting B. Sustained standing or walking C. Ability to work under stress D. Varied work hours and shifts

Medical Center Health System • 6 West (Ortho/Neuro)
Schedule:
Full Time, Day Shift, 8am-5pm
