Job Type Full time This role serves as Fortify Children Health's lead executive for strategic finance, payor contracting, and treasury, responsible for ensuring long-term financial sustainability, strong payor relationships, and sound stewardship of organizational funds. It oversees development and communication of Fortify's annual and long-range financial plans, supervision of outsourced accounting and internal controls, design of sustainable physician funds flow models, and trusted financial advising to executive leadership on staffing, investments, and expense management. The role also leads payor contracting strategy—including negotiation, performance oversight, and development of pediatric-appropriate value-based arrangements—while managing key payor relationships and joint operating committees. As Treasurer, it holds ultimate responsibility for cash management, financial reporting to the Board, banking relationships, and safeguarding Fortify's financial integrity. Strategic Finance Develop and maintain dynamic annual and long-range financial plans that adapt to changing market conditions while supporting Fortify's long-term financial sustainability and independence, in partnership with the outsourced accounting firm. Communicate financial plans and performance updates to Fortify's Board of Managers and financial executives at Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters and UVA Health. Oversee financial reporting, including actual-to-budget and year-over-year analyses prepared by the outsourced accounting firm. Develop sustainable internal funds flow methodologies, chair the Funds Flow Workgroup, and build consensus among participating physicians, administrative leadership, and Class A Members. Present recommendations and decisions to provider groups, the Board of Managers, and Class A Members. Serve as a strategic advisor to the Executive Director on staffing, vendor negotiations, expense management, and capital investments. Oversee outsourced accounting and finance functions, including: Accounting software implementation Accounts payable, reconciliations, cash forecasting, and month-end close Financial planning, analysis, and budgeting Internal controls and procurement processes Tax compliance and guidance Contracting Lead the development, negotiation, implementation, and management of payor contracts and contracting strategy with existing and prospective payor partners. Identify opportunities for new agreements and renegotiate existing agreements to optimize performance and terms. Collaborate with Fortify leadership to align contracting strategies with organizational initiatives and capabilities. Manage payor relationships by leading Joint Operating Committees, serving as the primary escalation contact, resolving issues, and fostering relationships with key payor decision-makers. Develop pediatric-focused value-based contracts and serve as Co-Chair of Fortify's Payor Contracting Committee. Oversee contract performance reporting, actuarial consulting engagements, and reconciliation activities in collaboration with the Director of Informatics. Treasurer Responsibilities Maintain oversight of all funds, securities, receipts, and disbursements in partnership with the outsourced accounting team. Provide financial condition reports to the Board as requested and perform all duties customary to the Treasurer role. Oversee daily cash management, investment activities, cash flow forecasting, capital contribution forecasting, and key banking relationships in accordance with Board and/or Class A Member guidance.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
Experience:
8+ years of relevant professional experience to include 4+ years of formal managerial experience
Licensure:
None The starting base rate for this role is $145,000.00 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
