Primarily responsible for the scheduling of patient appointments with specialists, scheduling tests at appropriate facilities, coordinating completion for insurance mandated referrals and authorizations in a timely fashion prior to the date of service, updating patient chart records with necessary referral information, flagging and faxing appropriate medical records, contacting patients via telephone and communicating appointment preparation details. What you will do Coordinates appointment scheduling and obtains timely insurance referrals/authorizations to ensure quality patient care. Educates patient regarding protocol for tests/appointments. Keeps up to date on referral criteria by reviewing updates from insurance carriers and attending training. Recommends to office manager any process improvements needed to improve quality of service. Maintains a clean and orderly work area. Processes physician and patient requests for tests and referrals in a timely manner. Responds appropriately and timely to patient calls.
