Job Summary:
The Scheduler is responsible for coordinating and scheduling patient care staff and providing assistance to administrative staff. Home Health staffing experience preferred.
Job Responsibilities:
Taking initial phone call/ faxed referrals on patients referred for home care: > Answers phones and takes initial phoned/faxed referrals on patients referred for home care. > Identifies and verifies insurance coverage of home health care services. > Completes referral information that includes intake data, and documents in the electronic record. > Maintains liaison relationship with hospital and insurance personnel, providing information and education on Organization services. > Collects and maintains statistical data on all referrals and submits them regularly as required. > Verifies patient's primary care physician. > Calls prospective patient to introduce services, verify primary care physician, verify patient information, and document accordingly in computer system. Schedules/ coordinates patient care staff according to Agency policy and under the supervision of the Clinical Director/ Supervisor. Updates information daily regarding employee absentee status for no call/no show, cancellations, refusals and employee illness and reports this information to Clinical Supervisor. Participates in compiling schedules and time summaries and submits to Clinical Director/ Supervisor weekly. Maintains pertinent information regarding incoming calls, availability and comments and submits to Clinical Director/ Supervisor. Updates Clinical Director/ Supervisor regarding patient issues and concerns in a timely manner. Participates in provision of patient billing information. Schedules all necessary personnel and resolves all last-minute cancellations. Participates in on-call rotation, if there are non-clinical on-call rotations. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Customer Service:
2 years (required).
Home health:
1year (preferred). Scheduling for medical staff is preferred. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel. Effective organization skills with attention to detail. Effective written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to represent the Agency as a professional.
Working Conditions:
This position typically operates in an office environment.
