  • Health, Safety and Environmental is primarily responsible for embedding HSE into how field teams work —not as a compliance overlay, but as a business enabler that allows branches, distribution centers, fabrication shops and delivery teams to meet customer needs safely, reliably, and efficiently.
The VP, HSE partners with leadership to include C-Suite, Regional VP's, General Managers, Field Operations, Branch/Distribution Center leaders, and frontline supervisors to design solutions that balance safety with productivity, service levels, and practical field realities that meet the needs of the business and the customer. This leader will focus on balancing execution in the field with influence at all levels using leading indicators and learning to improve safety performance. The VP, HSE drives a proactive safety culture, reduces risk, and builds safety capability at every level of the organization with a heavy emphasis on the field.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Partnership & Leadership Enablement Evolve and lead Ferguson's global health, safety, and environmental strategy aligned with business objectives and operational goals Build Health & Safety team focused on being a strategic partner to corporate, field and regional leadership, ensuring HSE practices support business growth, customer responsiveness, and operational flexibility Co-create solutions with field leaders that integrate appropriate risk controls without impeding customer commitments, delivery expectations, or speed of service Develop and foster knowledge of our field operations through onsite visits to understand real operating conditions, and to ensure processes and tools are field-ready Focus on practical, achievable safety expectations, with particular emphasis on preventing serious injuries and leading indicators Enterprise Strategy & Risk Management Develop 3-5 year enterprise HSE strategy aligned with the field needs and supporting our business Ensure HSE data and statistics are easy-to-use for our field leaders, to include a focus on leading indicators Partner with field leadership to integrate safe work practices into daily service execution Apply a risk-based approach across warehouses, DCs, branches that effectively balance the needs of the business and the mitigation of risk Implementation of HSE assurance team to partner with field to drive continuous improvement Chair executive safety committee Provide strategic insights and regular updates to executive leadership on safety trends, risks and performance Culture Through partnership across the organization, drive the HSE culture through frontline leader empowerment and a field-focused HSE team to support those leaders Design and deliver practical, critical training for the onboarding of new associates that allows them to drive a faster speed to impact in the organization Create mechanisms to understand our evolving business and continuously improve our HSE processes to align
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Deep expertise in occupational health, safety, environmental regulations, and industry best practices (e.g., OSHA, EPA, ISO 45001, DOT) Strong strategic thinking and leadership skills with the ability to influence at all organizational levels Proven ability to drive a safety-focused culture and continuous improvement in complex, multi-site operations Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills Strong project management and organizational capabilities Proficiency with safety management systems, incident reporting tools, and data analytics for safety performance Certified Safety Professional (CSP), NEBOSH Diploma, or equivalent preferred 15+ years of progressive experience in health, safety, and environmental leadership roles, including at least 7 years in senior management Experience working in large, complex, multi-site organizations, preferably in distribution sectors Proven track record integrating safety practices into high-velocity, customer-service-driven operations. Expertise in
OSHA, DOT/FMCSA, EPA
compliance and frontline-friendly risk controls. Bachelor's required; CSP, CIH, or equivalent preferred. Core Competencies Executive Presence

Pay Range:
$19,566.67
  • $32,608.
34 Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles. This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible. Ferguson complies with all wage regulations. The starting wage may be higher in certain locations based on local or state wage requirements.
