Job Description

Valley Community Services Board (VCSB) is seeking a compassionate, experienced, and clinically skilled behavioral health leader to serve as our Same Day Access Supervisor. This position provides clinical and administrative oversight of Same Day Access (SDA) services, ensuring individuals and families receive timely, high-quality behavioral health care through a recovery-oriented and person-centered approach. The Same Day Access Supervisor plays a critical leadership role in supporting walk-in behavioral health assessment services, coordinating clinical workflows, supervising staff, and ensuring compliance with DBHDS, DMAS, and agency standards. This position collaborates closely with outpatient and community partners to improve access to care for youth, adults, and families experiencing mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders. Benefits Health insurance as low as $40/month for individuals. Family and dependent plans are also available. Sign-on bonus of $2,500. Salary range from $69,737.71 - $81,342.93. 14 paid holidays. Accrue up to 20 days of paid time off (PTO) per year from year one. PTO is immediately available upon accrual. Participation in the Virginia Retirement System. Essential Functions Clinical and Administrative Supervision Provide direct supervision to Same Day Access clinicians, Client Engagement Specialists, and support staff. Assist with staff hiring, onboarding, training, evaluation, and professional development. Conduct regular supervision sessions, productivity reviews, and performance evaluations. Review and approve clinical documentation for quality, compliance, and timeliness. Support staff development through coaching, mentoring, and corrective action when needed. Ensure appropriate staffing coverage and efficient daily operations. Same Day Access Program Oversight Oversee daily SDA operations to ensure timely access to behavioral health services. Monitor workflows and identify barriers to care to improve client flow and service delivery. Ensure appropriate clinical assessments, referrals, and levels of care determinations. Coordinate closely with outpatient and community-based program leadership to support continuity of care. Monitor utilization trends, access metrics, and program outcomes. Participate in service planning, process improvement initiatives, and program development activities. Compliance and Quality Management Ensure compliance with DBHDS, DMAS, HIPAA, and agency policies and procedures. Support quality improvement activities, audits, and corrective action planning. Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and records. Participate in leadership meetings, committees, and cross-department collaboration efforts. Maintain required licensure and certifications. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related human services field. Active and unrestricted Virginia LMHP licensure (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or equivalent). Clinical Supervisor status through the Virginia Department of Health Professions, or ability to obtain within six months of hire. Minimum of two (2) years of post-licensure experience in community-based behavioral health services. Experience conducting clinical assessments, ASAM level-of-care determinations, and treatment planning for youth and/or adults. Valid Virginia driver's license (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire) and acceptable driving record. Preferred Qualifications Competitive candidates will also demonstrate: Prior supervisory or leadership experience in behavioral health settings. Experience overseeing Same Day Access, intake, crisis, or outpatient behavioral health services. Knowledge of DBHDS, DMAS, Medicaid, and managed care requirements. Experience working within a Community Services Board or public behavioral health system. Ability to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced clinical environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience with electronic health records and clinical documentation systems. Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and community partners. Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and person-centered care.
