Clinical Director Position Summary NOVA Community Services is seeking an experienced and dynamic Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to serve as our Associate Clinical Director. This executive-level leadership position is responsible for providing clinical oversight, supervision, program development, compliance management, and operational leadership for all agency programs, including Community Stabilization Services, Crisis Receiving Center operations, and Outpatient Therapy Services. The Associate Clinical Director will provide direct clinical services, conduct behavioral health assessments, supervise clinicians and supervisees, oversee quality assurance activities, and collaborate with agency leadership to strategically expand services throughout Virginia. This position plays a critical role in ensuring clinical excellence while supporting organizational growth and community impact. The ideal candidate is an experienced behavioral health leader who is passionate about serving children, adolescents, adults, and families while helping build innovative behavioral health programs. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Clinical Leadership & Program Oversight Provide clinical leadership and oversight for all NOVA Community Services programs. Ensure delivery of high-quality, ethical, evidence-based behavioral health services. Develop and implement clinical policies, procedures, and best practices. Monitor program effectiveness and identify opportunities for quality improvement. Participate in strategic planning, program development, and agency growth initiatives. Serve as the agency's lead clinical resource for staff consultation and clinical decision-making. Clinical Assessment & Direct Services Conduct comprehensive behavioral health assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. Complete diagnostic evaluations and determine clinical appropriateness for services. Review and approve assessments, treatment plans, discharge plans, and clinical documentation completed by staff. Provide direct clinical intervention and consultation as needed. Support crisis intervention and stabilization efforts across agency programs. Community Stabilization Services Oversight Provide clinical oversight of Community Stabilization services. Ensure compliance with all DBHDS, Medicaid, and agency requirements. Monitor service delivery, treatment planning, documentation, and discharge processes. Support staff in addressing complex clinical cases and crisis situations. Crisis Receiving Center Oversight Provide clinical leadership for Crisis Receiving Center operations. Assist with program implementation, staffing development, and operational planning. Ensure compliance with crisis services regulations and licensing requirements. Collaborate with medical, nursing, and behavioral health professionals to ensure quality care and positive client outcomes. Outpatient Therapy Program Oversight Oversee outpatient therapy services for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Support clinicians through case consultation, treatment planning, and clinical guidance. Monitor service quality, productivity, and documentation compliance. Assist in developing and expanding specialty behavioral health services. Clinical Supervision Provide supervision to LCSW supervisees in accordance with Virginia Board of Social Work regulations. Must already be approved by the Virginia Board of Social Work as a Clinical Supervisor. Maintain all required supervision documentation. Mentor clinicians and support professional growth and licensure development. Facilitate individual and group supervision sessions. Business Development & Program Growth Collaborate with executive leadership to grow existing programs and develop new service lines. Work closely with the marketing and outreach teams to increase community awareness and referrals. Participate in community engagement activities, networking events, and partnership development. Build and maintain relationships with referral sources, healthcare providers, schools, hospitals, CSBs, and community organizations. Assist in identifying service gaps and opportunities for expansion throughout Virginia. Support recruitment efforts for licensed and unlicensed clinical staff. Compliance & Quality Assurance Ensure compliance with: DBHDS regulations Virginia Medicaid requirements Virginia Board of Social Work standards HIPAA regulations Agency policies and procedures Participate in audits, licensing reviews, and quality assurance activities. Review incident reports and implement corrective action plans when necessary. Maintain readiness for regulatory inspections and program reviews. Staff Leadership & Management Provide leadership, coaching, and support to multidisciplinary clinical teams. Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations. Foster a positive, collaborative, and mission-driven workplace culture. Address clinical performance concerns and support staff development. Required Qualifications Active, unrestricted Virginia Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license. Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution. Approved Clinical Supervisor by the Virginia Board of Social Work. Minimum five (5) years of post-licensure clinical experience. Minimum three (3) years of supervisory or leadership experience in behavioral health services. Experience conducting behavioral health assessments and diagnostic evaluations. Strong knowledge of crisis services, community-based behavioral health programs, and outpatient therapy. Working knowledge of DBHDS regulations, Medicaid requirements, and Virginia behavioral health licensing standards. Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Community Stabilization Services. Experience operating or managing Crisis Receiving Centers, Crisis Stabilization Units, Mobile Crisis, or Emergency Behavioral Health Services. Experience in program development, business development, and strategic growth initiatives. Experience working with both adult and child behavioral health populations. Experience supervising clinicians pursuing licensure. Compensation Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
