We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Patient Care & Research Coordinator to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys patient education, treatment coordination, and being at the forefront of emerging therapies in eye care. Prior Ophthalmology experience is not required. Pharmacy Technicians and Medical Assistants are encouraged to apply. Position Summary The Ophthalmic Patient Care & Research Coordinator serves as a key liaison between patients, providers, pharmaceutical companies, and research teams. This position is responsible for coordinating prescription prior authorizations, educating patients regarding treatment options, assisting with research study participation, supporting photobiomodulation therapy programs, and guiding patients through the treatment/surgical process. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who is passionate about helping patients understand their care options and ensuring a seamless patient experience. Essential Responsibilities Prior Authorizations & Medication Access Submit and manage prescription prior authorizations. Communicate with insurance companies, pharmacies, and providers regarding medication approvals. Track authorization status and ensure timely patient access to prescribed treatments. Assist patients with patient assistance programs and specialty pharmacy coordination when appropriate. Research Study Coordination Educate patients about clinical research opportunities and eligibility requirements. Assist with participant recruitment and enrollment processes. Coordinate patient scheduling related to research activities. Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with study protocols and regulatory requirements. Photobiomodulation Treatment Coordination Educate patients regarding photobiomodulation therapy and treatment expectations. Coordinate treatment schedules and patient follow-up. Participate in clinic assessments related to the treatment: Checking vision and pupils, documenting in EMR, support physician during treatment Administrative Support Maintain accurate electronic medical records. Document patient communications and treatment coordination activities. Assist with reports, tracking logs, and quality improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with HIPAA and practice policies.
