Job Summary The Clinical Improvement Specialist will act as a facilitator of learning, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for scientific inquiry, and a partner for practice transition. Will use tools, theories, skills and knowledge of the Nursing Professional Development specialty to improve the healthcare practice of learners. Essential Functions Supports licensed and non-licensed healthcare personnel in onboarding, orientation, ongoing competency, and role development. Coordinate with Practice Managers and staff on remediation activities surrounding identified opportunities for improvement, from initiation through completion. Assist in developing and delivering training, education, and targeted support to practice staff as applicable. Responsible for onboarding of new clinical employees. Lead and participate in quality efforts to promote clinical safety, standardization and evidence based practices within service line, and collaborates across Skagit Regional Health. Lead and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to identify and develop strategies, metrics and processes to improve quality of care and safety. Assesses clinical workflows; identifies and implements best practices that promote standardization throughout the organization. Participates in departmental LEAN projects, compliance audits and quality monitors. Oversees management of department medication stocks and monitors compliance with medication administration. Conducts training activities with staff and providers to support clinical operational functions. Responsible for developing, implementing and compliance with all SRH policies and procedures. Collaborate with Employee Health and Quality team to Practice Manager to ensure Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Department of Health (DOH) compliance. Collaborate with Infection Prevention to ensure best infection control practices and regulatory requirements are met in all clinical areas. Serves as a clinical resource to employees, leaders, and business partners. Adheres to all SRH and location/department specific policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned by Director or designee. Education Graduate of an accredited RN program; Bachelor's degree in nursing, health care administration, business administration or other relevant field of study preferred. Experience/Training One year experience in an ambulatory clinical setting preferred. License/Certifications Current Washington State RN license and American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required. Other Skills Ability to work independently with small and large groups of professionals; ability to problem solve, set priorities, plan and schedule workload to meet deadlines. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; strong organizational skills; clinical proficiency. Competent in the use of technology including Microsoft Office and an electronic health record. Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping or crouching. The employee must occasionally lift or move objects and patients weighing over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit for long periods of time; when working in office. Repetitive tasks such as typing, sitting, answering phones, and interacting with computers and computer systems most of the day is a function of the position. Travel between sites may be required.
