The duties and responsibilities of the Director of the Health Center include: The Primary role is to provide comprehensive healthcare to our students, which includes diagnostic, evaluation and treatment of acute and chronic conditions. Works closely with the Director of Nursing and Medical Director to ensure compliance with all related state and local requirements. Works collaboratively and communicates effectively with all members of the School community. The Director will provide direct healthcare services, and confident clinical leadership to a well-established and strongly supported school health and wellness program with experienced and student-centered healthcare practitioners dedicated to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students. The Director must have strong clinical acumen, compassion, and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop a broad institutional perspective and work effectively as both a team leader and team member who can inspire confidence and trust. The Director will enjoy strong strategic partnerships with supportive colleagues across the portfolio of the Head of School, Administration, Faculty and Staff. Candidates should have a proven record of excellent clinical supervision and administrative experience, including evidence of innovation in service delivery and knowledge of public health and wellness related issues affecting students. Successful candidates will have a knowledge of local and national issues, trends, and best practice standards in primary health care, school health, and health insurance. The position requires a student-centered approach, engaging the nursing staff in seeking opportunities for innovation in program, service, and business models while ensuring outstanding quality in all aspects of care and operations. This is a full-time, 12-month position. After hours and weekend consultation (including on-call responsibilities) and emergency response as needed. The Director balances clinical and administrative duties, guides decisions regarding campus-wide prevention and wellness initiatives, and ensures that all clinical management guidelines, protocols, and practices reflect and are consistent with current standards The Director will maintain and enhance institutional relationships with state, county, and local healthcare resources. The Director manages an operating budget and oversees 9 full and part-time staff.Preferred Qualifications:
PA-C, APRN, or related degree. Current licensure or license-eligibility in Connecticut within 60 days of start date and current, active certification as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant.Required Experience:
Minimum of three years of leadership and relevant professional experience in health care services and administration. Knowledge of local and national issues, trends, and best practice standards in primary health/urgent care, school health, health insurance, and managed care, as well as of national certification and accreditation requirements. Ability to multitask, triage health problems, and respond effectively to medical emergencies. Ability to triage mental health issues and work closely with colleagues in the Counseling Service to provide comprehensive health care support to Rumsey Hall students. Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and critical thinking skills are essential.Preferred Experience:
Experience with adolescent aged patients, preferably in a School (K-9) health setting, is strongly preferred but not required. Experience with electronic health records desired. How toApply:
