Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Ambulatory Surgical Center Manager to lead the daily operations of a busy outpatient surgical facility. This role is essential in ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care, maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations, and managing a team of healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, comprehensive medical office management experience, and a passion for improving healthcare delivery in an ambulatory setting. As the center's operational leader, you will oversee clinical and administrative functions, optimize financial performance, and foster a collaborative environment focused on quality and efficiency. Duties Oversee all aspects of surgical center operations, including clinical workflows, patient scheduling, and staff coordination to ensure smooth daily functioning. Manage fiscal responsibilities such as budgeting, financial management, billing processes, and cost control measures to maximize revenue and operational efficiency. Supervise medical and administrative staff, including nurses, medical assistants, administrative support personnel, and other healthcare professionals. Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations including HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) standards, and OSHA requirements. Maintain accurate medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems like Epic or eClinicalWorks; ensure documentation adheres to legal and regulatory standards. Coordinate with physicians, anesthesia providers, and other specialists to facilitate high-quality patient care and efficient surgical scheduling. Implement policies for infection control, patient safety, and quality assurance programs to uphold the highest standards of care. Oversee human resources functions such as hiring, training, performance evaluations, and staff development initiatives. Monitor clinic performance metrics including utilization management, patient satisfaction scores, and operational KPIs to identify areas for improvement. Collaborate with managed care organizations to streamline pre-authorizations and insurance processes for optimal reimbursement. Experience Proven experience in medical office management within an outpatient or ambulatory surgical setting; prior clinic or hospital experience is highly valued. Strong supervisory background with demonstrated success managing multidisciplinary teams in a healthcare environment. Extensive knowledge of medical administrative support functions including billing, coding (e.g., CPT/ICD codes), and electronic health records systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks. Familiarity with fiscal management principles including budgeting, financial reporting, and cost control strategies specific to healthcare facilities. Hands-on experience with HIPAA compliance protocols and medical records management to ensure confidentiality and legal adherence. Competence in utilizing EMR/EHR systems for documentation, scheduling, billing, and reporting purposes. Background in acute care or surgical center operations is preferred; experience in dental clinics or veterinary practices related to healthcare management is a plus. Knowledge of accreditation standards from JCAHO or similar bodies; understanding of utilization management processes within managed care environments is advantageous.
