Healthcare Project Architect/Project Manager

Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Healthcare Project Architect/Project Manager to lead the design and delivery of clinical and hospital projects. This hybrid technical and leadership role will manage multidisciplinary teams, coordinate with clients and authorities having jurisdiction, and ensure projects meet clinical performance, regulatory and schedule objectives. The ideal candidate brings strong healthcare sector expertise, Revit/BIM proficiency, and demonstrated success navigating HCAI and OSHPD (or equivalent) review and approvals.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead architectural design and documentation for healthcare projects including clinics, outpatient facilities and hospitals from schematic design through construction administration.

Serve as Project Architect or Project Manager, oversee project schedules, budgets, staffing, quality control, and deliverables.

Manage and mentor internal design teams and external consultants, ensuring coordinated Revit/BIM workflows and model integrity.

Coordinate with clinical stakeholders, facility operations, and medical planners to translate program requirements into code-compliant design solutions.

Prepare and manage submissions and responses for regulatory reviews, including OSHPD (where applicable) and HCAI processes, and coordinate with local AHJ to secure permits and approvals.

Maintain project risk registers and proactively resolve design, cost, and schedule issues; implement corrective actions as needed.

Ensure adherence to healthcare codes, infection control standards, accessibility, life safety, and facility engineering requirements throughout design and construction.

Represent the firm in client meetings, presentations, design workshops, and construction meetings; build and maintain strong client relationships.

Provide construction administration services, including RFI review, submittal coordination, site observations, and closeout documentation to ensure contract compliance and quality.

Promote firm best practices, participate in business development and proposals for healthcare projects, and contribute to knowledge sharing and quality standards across the team.

QualificationsProfessional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) from an accredited program.

Active licensure or reciprocity with NCARB certification preferred; California registration/experience advantageous.

Minimum 8+ years of architecture experience with a significant portion in healthcare design (clinics, hospitals, outpatient facilities).Proven experience acting as Project Architect and Project Manager on medium to large healthcare projects, with demonstrated budget and schedule accountability.

Strong Revit and BIM skills, with experience managing multidisciplinary models and coordinating federated model workflows.

Direct experience with OSHPD review processes and documentation (or equivalent state healthcare review authorities) and familiarity with HCAI submissions and requirements.

In-depth knowledge of healthcare codes, NFPA, ADA, infection control best practices, and hospital planning standards.

Excellent client communication, presentation, and team leadership skills; ability to facilitate clinical stakeholder workshops.

AIA membership preferred; experience with construction administration and dispute resolution.

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently under tight deadlines.
