Contract Type:
TADA is a design-led architecture and interiors studio. We believe healthcare environments should perform at the highest clinical standard while remaining welcoming, intuitive, and deeply human. We're looking for a senior healthcare architect to strengthen the technical expertise within our studio and become a key collaborator on healthcare projects. The Role We're seeking a contract Senior Healthcare Architect to join our team on a medical tenant improvement and adaptive reuse project in California, with the opportunity to grow into projects nationwide. This is a collaborative, hands-on role. You'll work closely with our principal and project team from early feasibility and programming through permitting, construction documentation, and construction administration. Rather than operating as an external consultant, you'll be embedded within our design process and help shape technical decisions from the outset. Our immediate project is a 13,000 SF outpatient medical clinic in Los Angeles involving a change of occupancy and adaptive reuse under the California Existing Building Code (CEBC). Responsibilities Lead building and healthcare code analysis, including change of occupancy under the CBC and CEBC. Determine HCAI applicability and advise on regulatory pathways for outpatient healthcare facilities. Coordinate with CDPH regarding licensing requirements and regulated clinical uses. Develop permitting strategies and participate in pre-application meetings with the City of Los Angeles. Review and contribute to construction documents to ensure compliance with building codes, accessibility requirements, and fire and life safety standards. Coordinate with structural, MEP, civil, and specialty consultants on healthcare-specific building systems and infrastructure. Provide technical leadership throughout design development, permitting, and construction. Collaborate with the design team to integrate technical requirements while maintaining design quality and project vision. Support construction administration, responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and resolving field conditions. Qualifications Required Licensed Architect in California. 5+ years of healthcare architecture experience in California. Demonstrated experience with
HCAI/OSHPD
regulations and project submissions. Strong knowledge of the California Building Code, California Existing Building Code, accessibility standards, and fire/life safety requirements. Experience delivering outpatient clinics, medical office tenant improvements, or ambulatory healthcare facilities. Strong consultant coordination and technical documentation skills. Comfortable working within a collaborative, fast-moving design studio. Preferred Experience coordinating CDPH licensing for clinical facilities. Familiarity with medical equipment planning and utility coordination. Experience with adaptive reuse and change-of-occupancy healthcare projects. Experience working with jurisdictions throughout California. Engagement Contract, part-time. Hours will vary depending on project phase. Opportunity to build a long-term relationship across multiple healthcare and commercial projects and become full time.
