Job Description

Category Schools - Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding opportunity as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher, supporting students PreK-12 in an engaging educational setting on a contract basis. Your expertise will be pivotal in empowering young learners with hearing differences, providing specialized instruction and advocacy throughout the academic year. This role spans from August 10, 2026, through May 24, 2027, with a flexible weekly schedule ranging from 30 to 40 hours. You'll have the chance to make a significant impact on a manageable caseload of 8 students, fostering an inclusive and accessible learning environment.
Qualifications & Experience:
Valid teaching certification with an endorsement in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education Previous experience as a teacher or specialist working with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students preferred Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Strong communication and collaboration skills Familiarity with developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instruction and adapt curriculum for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students across PreK-12 settings Develop, monitor, and document progress on IEP goals to ensure all students' needs are met Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to promote student success Provide consultative support and professional development to colleagues regarding best practices for accessible instruction Utilize appropriate assistive technology and learning resources Advocate for the rights and needs of Deaf/Hard of Hearing students within the school community As an advocate and educator, your contributions will enhance accessibility and help students thrive academically and socially.
