Job Description

We are looking for a histology technicians to join our day- shift team. Monday-Friday. 7a-4 pwith an hour lunch. Applicants must be a certified Histology Technician or have a Bachelors degree in Biology/Chemistry. Team member will display strong organization, attention to detail, and communication skills to ensure an effective lab environment. Team member will maintain a competent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs and internal laboratory systems.

Grossing:
  • Transfer the specimen into a patient specific cassette. Processing
  • Use appropriate equipment to dehydrate and infiltrate specimen with wax. Embedding
  • Use appropriate equipment to embed specimen in wax block. Microtomy
  • Use appropriate equipment to cut wax block
  • Place cuts on slides Staining
  • Follow procedures for routine staining of slides
  • Follow procedures for special staining including doctor requested or routine stain for specific collection site.
  • Perform IHC stains using the auto stainer. General
  • Maintain proper labeling of slides and cassettes throughout laboratory process.
  • Fill in at lean labs when needed
  • Abide by all HIPAA, CLIA, and OSHA guidelines and laws.
  • Keep annual training such as HIPAA and Bloodborne certificates up to date.
  • Keep licensing up to date (if applicable)
  • Participate in company Operations or QA/QC meetings as directed.
  • Maintain proper communication among co-workers.
  • Maintain routine maintenance of laboratory equipment and document appropriately.
  • Follow proper procedure for disposal of laboratory waste.
