Job Description

Mohs Technician/Assistant Job Summary:
Hemateck Laboratories LLC has been performing Clinical Histology, Mohs and Pathology services to various Hospitals and Private Practices in Southern California for over 30 years. Mohs Micrographic Surgery is a controlled form of surgery performed by trained Dermatologists to treat skin cancer. Tissue is removed from the patient, processed through frozen sectioning, stained with Hematoxylin and Eosin Staining methods, and viewed under the microscope for diagnosis. We are seeking applicants for a laboratory technician position as a Mohs Technician/Assistant to join our Mohs team. No prior experience is required (prior laboratory experience is helpful) as we provide on-site training. Our training program lasts a minimum of 3 months or until applicant has demonstrated sufficient skill to be promoted to Mohs Technician Assistant with a per day pay increase proportional to workload. A further pay increase promotion will occur when applicant is capable of performing all necessary job aspects alone. This job is a perfect resume booster for those interested in further study in medicine (i.e. Doctor or Physician Assistant) with excellent hands-on clinical experience. We will provide written letters of recommendation or letters of referral after a 1-2-year commitment period. This job offers direct exposure to a medical and clinical environment in a hospital and/or private office setting.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree (preferred) Clean DMV Record and Reliable Vehicle Able to work in a fast-paced environment Able to maintain a flexible work schedule Minimum of 1-2 year commitment
Responsibilities and Duties:
Independently responsible for manipulation of excised tissues, grossing, inking and mapping the specimen, freezing it and preparing frozen section slides with a cryostat, and staining the slides in a high quality manner for the physician to read under the microscope Maintain excellent laboratory documentation including: logging of patient information in Mohs Surgery Logbook, slide labeling, quality control and maintenance logs

Reliable, Punctual, & Committed Job Type:
Part-time Day shifts Varying daily hours starting at 7am (based on amount of patients per day and how much cancer a patient may have)
Locations:
Azusa laboratory for initial training purposes (Azusa, CA) Loma Linda University, Department of Dermatology (Loma Linda, CA) Private Office, Westlake Village/Thousand Oaks, CA Expansion to further locations in the greater Los Angeles area in the future
Compensation:
Salary-based - Maximum amount paid on a per-day basis Non-Hourly •The primary purpose of this job is to provide high-quality slides in the minimum amount of time. When paid hourly, this diminishes the goal of quickly and efficiently providing quality slides and inhibits growth and mastery of technique in the shortest amount of time possible. This will allow you to quickly finish the work, resulting in shorter work days as well. Our company pays you the full daily price, regardless if all patients clear and finish by 11am or 7pm. The hours vary day by day, hence the part- time nature of the job.•
