Job Description

Part-Time Histology Technician I Position Summary:
Kern Gastroenterology Medical Group is seeking a Part-Time Histology Technician I to assist with the preparation and processing of tissue specimens for microscopic examination. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of laboratory quality and patient care. Schedule Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM 30-minute unpaid lunch break 30 hours per week No benefits provided Essential Duties and Responsibilities Receive, accession, and verify patient tissue specimens. Process tissue specimens using established laboratory protocols. Embed tissue samples in paraffin blocks. Perform microtomy and prepare quality tissue sections. Stain slides using routine H&E and special stains as directed. Label, file, and maintain tissue blocks and slides. Perform quality control procedures and maintain accurate records. Maintain laboratory equipment and perform routine maintenance. Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, OSHA, HIPAA, and all laboratory regulations. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment. Assist the Laboratory Director and Pathologist as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a Histology Technician program preferred. Previous histology laboratory experience preferred. Knowledge of tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining techniques. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Manual dexterity required for specimen preparation and microtomy. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally. Ability to safely work with laboratory chemicals and biological specimens. Benefits This is a part-time position and is not eligible for company-sponsored benefits. California paid sick leave provided in accordance with state law.
Pay:
$22.00 - $26.00 per hour
