  • Full-time We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented licensed Histology Technician to join our Pathology team on the night shift.
This position focuses primarily on specimen grossing and supporting the histology workflow to ensure timely and accurate processing of surgical and biopsy specimens for diagnosis. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently during overnight hours and maintains the highest standards of quality, safety, and precision in a fast-paced laboratory environment. Key Responsibilities Perform gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens (grossing) according to established protocols and pathologist guidelines. Accurately describe gross anatomic features, measure specimens, and select appropriate sections for histologic processing. Dictate gross descriptions clearly and completely. Assist with embedding, microtomy, staining, and other histology tasks as needed. Label, track, and maintain specimens in accordance with laboratory policies and regulatory requirements. Ensure proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials. Maintain equipment, troubleshoot issues, and perform quality control procedures. Collaborate with pathologists, lab assistants, and other team members to meet turnaround time expectations. Participate in laboratory quality improvement initiatives.
Schedule Night Shift:
Typically 11:00 PM
  • 7:30 AM (exact hours may vary) Includes weekend and holiday rotation as needed
Qualifications Required:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Histotechnology. HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) certification. Minimum 2+ years of experience in histology, with strong focus on specimen grossing. Thorough knowledge of anatomy, pathology, and grossing techniques. Strong attention to detail and excellent documentation skills. Ability to work independently during the night shift with minimal supervision.
Preferred:
Experience in a high-volume hospital or reference lab setting. Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS). Prior experience in training or mentoring junior staff.
