Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Histology Technician to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the preparation and examination of dermatology tissue samples for diagnostic purposes. The technician will be responsible for the accurate and timely gross examination of specimens as well as embedding, microtomy and staining. The technician will work closely with pathologists and other laboratory personnel to ensure accurate results that contribute to patient care. A strong understanding of anatomy, laboratory techniques, and dermatopathology is essential for success in this position. Responsibilities Perform gross examination of dermatology specimens, this includes the dissection, description, and sampling of tissue specimens for histological processing. Ensure accurate and timely completion of all grossing tasks. Adhere to laboratory policies and procedures. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Assist with other laboratory duties as needed. Prepare and process tissue specimens for microscopic examination, including embedding, sectioning, and staining. Perform routine laboratory procedures following established protocols to ensure quality control. Maintain accurate records of specimens and laboratory results. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work environment. Requirements Minimum of Clinical Laboratory Tech. or Histological Tech. Minimum of 3 years experience with Dermatology / Dermatopathology specimens. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Experience with laboratory techniques and procedures related to histology. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Knowledge of laboratory safety and infection control procedures. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
