Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Histotechnician, where you will play a vital role in preparing and processing tissue specimens for diagnostic and research purposes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of pathology and laboratory science, contributing to accurate disease diagnosis and advancing medical research. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will utilize your expertise in laboratory techniques, specimen handling, and anatomy knowledge to ensure precise and timely results that impact patient care and scientific discovery. Duties Prepare tissue specimens through embedding, sectioning, staining, and mounting for microscopic examination Collect, process, and handle biological specimens with strict adherence to aseptic techniques and laboratory protocols Assist with specimen collection procedures, including phlebotomy and other sample acquisition methods when necessary Maintain detailed records of specimen processing steps, laboratory procedures, and test results in accordance with regulatory standards Support pathology investigations by accurately identifying tissue types and applying appropriate histological techniques Ensure laboratory cleanliness and safety by following proper aseptic techniques and handling hazardous materials responsibly Collaborate with pathologists, researchers, and clinical staff to facilitate accurate diagnosis and experimental procedures Requirements Proven clinical laboratory experience with a focus on histology or pathology laboratories Prior research laboratory experience is highly desirable for understanding experimental specimen handling Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pathology, and medical terminology to accurately interpret tissue samples Hands-on experience with laboratory procedures such as embedding, microtomy (sectioning), staining (e.g., H&E), and slide preparation Familiarity with specimen collection/processing techniques including phlebotomy and other sample acquisition methods Ability to monitor vital signs when involved in patient-related specimen collection or care activities Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols, aseptic technique, and proper disposal of biohazardous materials Hospital experience or familiarity with clinical workflows enhances your ability to integrate seamlessly into our team Record keeping and quality control for CLIA surveys Embark on a rewarding career where your skills directly contribute to life-saving diagnoses and groundbreaking research.
