POSITION SUMMARY
The Mohs Histotech in Pinehurst, NC, will be responsible for preparing and processing tissue specimens for Mohs micrographic surgery with precision and attention to detail. This role supports the surgical team by producing high-quality slides and maintaining quality control throughout the histology process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and section frozen tissue specimens using Mohs surgical techniques. Process, embed, and stain tissue samples accurately to facilitate examination by the Mohs surgeon. Perform quality assurance to ensure slides meet laboratory and clinical standards. Document all procedures according to established protocols and regulatory requirements. Maintain laboratory equipment and perform routine troubleshooting. Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulatory compliance (OSHA, CLIA). Collaborate with clinical and surgical teams to optimize workflow and patient outcomes. Maintain a clean and sterile laboratory environment. Participate in continuous education to stay current with histotechniques and best practices. Perform other duties as assigned in support of laboratory and clinical activities. Requirements
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Histotechnology or related discipline required. Certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL) by ASCP is highly preferred. Previous experience in Mohs histotechnology preferred. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills. Effective verbal and written communication abilities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team.
